I’ve just elevated my monitor by two encyclopedia volumes (7cm), to see if it helps my shoulder pain.. if it does then I’ll elevate my laptop too and get a nice keyboard (or a proper monitor mount).
I’ll give portrait mode a try for a few hours, but I suspect the much shortened menubar will be a problem as usual. It won’t get much better with a 20”, but a 24” remains a luxury..
edit: after puzzling over whether a laptop stand would bring my macbook up too high and block the external monitor (probably), I just realised the ideal is an arm that lets me elevate my macbook up to the same level as the top of the monitor. It’s probably pricey though.
