There’s this Apple reseller marketing blitz in today’s ST.
Prep work: peek at the online Apple Store (Singapore), you’ll note that the lowest-end white Macbook is S$1688, including GST.
Now, there’s this half-page ad on C15 which lists the ‘bundle deal’, with AppleCare Protection Plan or MS Office (Home Special Edition) — the same Macbook for $1888 with a usual price of $2134. Huh?
Oh, so the ‘usual price’ includes AppleCare, which Apple Store sells for $446.. yup, that’s right. Next question: so what’s included in the ~$200 premium you’re paying to the reseller?
If it’s APP, it’s a surprisingly good deal.. but if it’s some mystical Microsoft Office (Home Special Edition), naah. The closest match I get on that is a US$40 book, Special Edition Using Microsoft Office 2007.
