Food and Geeks

It’s absolutely a myth that geeks don’t need to be provided with sustenance. Especially when you do silly things like tell them the slideshow’s absolutely gotta be done in 15 minutes because the full-dress run is waiting for it! Never mind that they asked for at least half an hour’s notice, that they’re burning up a rainy day of sleep for you..
Here’s two different (paraphrased) ways of handling the non-providence of food for unpaid volunteer labour that I’ve encountered recently:
A: Err, actually, we catered just enough for the dancers and [technical support guys] so I don’t have portions for you.. and I don’t have my wallet with me so I can’t treat you.. so sorry..
B: We only catered for the dancers and backstage crew so there isn’t anything for you.. but you can buy something from the cafe instead! =D=D=D
Remember, one can’t live on CAS hours. But you must have known that already, since you’re living the IB life too. Now excuse me while I enjoy my supper..
