It seems that the SG job market is in a state where someone is willing to give away a Canon EF 85mm f1.2L to whoever can land him a job. Wow.

I love teachers who start class at 10-15 minutes past, and end 20 minutes early – for a 100 minute period. Perhaps it shows that 5 hours for HLs in a week is a lot, even when we need to ‘catch up the pace’..

Mathtype on Word 2008
I didn’t realise the lack of VBA affected me – just realised I can’t insert display equations (vertically centred) into Word 2008 with Mathtype 6. ‘Insert Equation’ only does inline equations (baseline at same height as baseline of surrounding text).  I don’t want to keep Word 2004 around just for that functionality, so I’ll just keep copying and pasting...

In America, when your personal data is leaked/stolen/sold to the wrong people, you get an apology and perhaps an offer for a year of credit monitoring. In Singapore, you see something in an ST article about a ‘review’ and stuff. Do you think the >15000 people were contacted with a explanation and apology? If you have heard of that, let me know.  But! We must be grateful and not...

Reading, England
My neck is screaming at me to take a break from the computer, so tonight I shall tackle presentationzen (this time in English), break for some amusement with the TOK text, and perhaps wander back into Hedda Gabler. Or not.  I still can’t find Nancy Duarte’s Slide:ology in the national libraries, and it’s a whopping S$61.77 at Books Kinokuniya :(

BugMe
I was just digging around my problems with accessing Bugmenot – strangely it seems that the favicon loads perfectly fine, but the page loads just don’t come through. After a while a RST packet comes round.  It’s evidently not a DNS issue. Getting Firefox to route it through Singnet’s proxy loads it quickly >_> Update: Solution? FoxyProxy.

I honestly don’t enjoy playing 面子 games. They live quite far down my response list. It usually ends up leaving both sides even.. evenly deep in the brown stuff.  A relatively minor issue at the moment, which hopefully won’t grow any further. “What can they do?” – is that arrogance, calculative, or just plain assured intelligent?

fünf Zentimeter pro Sekunde
What’s the point of attempting to have teachers not crossover between IB1 and IB2 when our classes get disrupted by things like TOK OP anyway? I’m not going to bother counting the hours of class time we’ve lost to this (so far) and the forest of school events. No wonder our school days have to be so long.  On the bright side, we intend to screen Byousoku 5 Centimeter during a...

It just occurred to me that not only is the Reflection photo competition’s theme rather vague, allows much space for cliché photos with water and glass, but doesn’t (directly) judge the photo’s relation to theme!  Originality Informational Content Visual Impact Technical Proficiency There’s also no need for a writeup, just a title. Hmmm.
